Rules and Regulations

Physical training

All the physical training and practices will be conducted at Kalari(specially designed ancient training centre) in the block of the temple attached to mana. The practice sessions will begin at 6.am till 8.am on all days, except on Sundays. A common wake up bell will be given at 5.30am. All the students should get ready and enter into Kalari by 6.am. Students will not be permitted to use mobile phones, cameras or any other equipment during the training sessions.

Students will be provided Langotti and medicated oil at Kalari. Male students are required to wear Langotti only and apply medicated oil all over the body during the practice sessions; as it will create the feeling of lightness and make movements easier and faster. By considering the limitations of female students in exposing the body, they will be allowed to wear appropriate cloths (covering the body) over the Langotti during the practice sessions. There will be no physical training for the female students during the menstrual periods. The admission for the regular training course (from 2nd stage till 6th stage) will be opened only to male students; by considering the limitation of the female students in following Kalari dress code, missing of classes due to monthly periods etc.

The duration of training for each student may differ with respect to his stamina, health conditions and experience. Students of all the stages will be trained together in the same Kalari; as it is the traditional method of Kalarippayatu training. Individual attention will be given to each student during practice. The training will be conducted under the supervision of Shri.Poomully Narayanan Namboothirippad or his disciples who are prominent and experienced in training the Kalarippayattu. Total care and diligence will be given by the master while training the students; however the students are required to take appropriate health and accidental insurance policies during the course period.

After Physical training the students can return to their accommodation block for taking bath. Organic water and medicated toilet soaps will be provided for cleaning the body.

Theory classes

As the Kalarippayattu is a bodily art and a science, there will be theory classes for the students on the arts and sciences related to Kalarippayattu. The classes will be held on all Mondays and Wednesdays for a period of one hour. Study notes upon each subject will be provided to the students during each session. Theory classes will be taken by a team of experts lead by Shri.Poomully Narayanan Namboothirippad. The medium of language will be English.

Facilities at Mana

Accommodation will be arranged at typical Kerala style heritage rooms with facilities suit to modern lifestyle. The students should note that one will not be permitted to enter or stay in another one’s room without the permission of the management. The students can meet and discuss with each other in the reading cum common room allotted for all.

There will be supervision/assistance of a manager in the accommodation blocks, round the clock.

All the students have to follow the rules and regulations of the Mana and are requested to cooperate with the Management. Students should note that the use of alcohol, drugs(of any description) and cigarettes will be injurious to health and will adversely affect the Kalarippayattu practice; and is strictly prohibited during the training period. If any student is found to be taking any of the above substances during their stay, he will be terminated immediately. The course fee once paid shall not be refunded.

The Visitors can meet the students only with the permission of the Management, and the visitors have to abide by the rules and regulations in this institution.

There will be Cable television in all the rooms. Students are requested to watch the same with minimum volume without disturbing the others. All the students are requested to switch of the power when they are leaving the room, and to use the water only to the requirement as to conserve it.

Every day the Rooms and the Bath rooms will be cleaned by the House keeping staff, by changing the towels and the sheets as and when required.

Laundry services, internet & computer facility, Telephone (Local/STD/ISD) and locker facility will be available at mana on extra cost. Management will not be responsible for loss of any item kept in room.

All the students are requested to fill the GRC and the International students to hand over the true copies of passport, to be submitted to Local authorities as per law. Travel assistance/Sight seeing and ticketing are available in the Mana on Cost. Payments can be made by Cash /D.D/ Card (Master and Visa), Bank service charges of 2% will be charged extra on card Payments.

Students can visit the ancient temple attached to mana, during temple working hours by following the temple rules.

Food

The Mana operates a strictly vegetarian kitchen. A wholesome breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided and every effort will be made to make the student stay comfortable. (Please note, most dishes are prepared with rice, pulses and coconut.)

Terms and conditions

  • Students are required to attend all lectures and physical training classes.
  • The management reserves the right to expel a student if he/she does not fulfil the above requirements, or for behavior disruptive to the general conduct of the centre, or violated the rules and regulations of this institution.
  • Each student will be admitted on the basis of evaluating the details given by him in the application.. The management reserves the right to refuse admission to students who do not provide sufficient details or those who provided incorrect details.
  • Normally, all fees are payable in advance *Attendance at classes can only be allowed when the fee has been paid, or an application has been made to pay by instalments or for its remission. * Students whose fees are to be paid by the Local Education Authority, employer or other body direct to the centre must produce written evidence of this at the time of admission (or earlier).
  • In the event of an LEA, employer, or other body not paying such fees, the student will remain personally liable for them. Students whose fees remain unpaid may be denied access to the training sessions, and the management reserves the right to withhold course certificates, until payment is made.
  •  Fees are strictly non-refundable except where notification is received from the Government of India that the student has been refused entry into this country. In this case, all fees paid less 10% are refundable.
  • Our centre is providing genuine Kalarippayattu training and we are trying our level best to maintain the same. Our Kalari training centre is affiliated to Kerala Kalarippayattu Association (Govt. of Kerala). All the physical training are providing with reasonable care & diligence and by following the proven traditional method of practice. However the management or the master will not be liable for any health problems or injuries occurred to the student while/due to the training or otherwise. No guarantee can be given with regard to the development of skills of a student as it is solely depending upon one’s physic, intellect and other backgrounds.
  • The management reserves the right not to commence any classes set out in the prospectus and to close, alter or combine classes which have commenced. In that event it further reserves the right to decide whether the whole fee, or any portion of it, shall be returned to the student.
