
For becoming an ‘Abhyasi’(master) of Kalarippayattu one must undergo various stages of practice. As per the ancient system of Kalarippayattu one have to practice ‘eighteen adavus’(18 series of practices). It will take at least Six years of regular training under a master, for completing these eighteen series of practices.
In Poomully Aramthampuran’s Kalarisangham the regular courses are designed in such a way that, anyone who is ready to take efforts and willing to sacrifice for this martial art can reach its highs by completing the prescribed stages of practices.

- Our Kalari is affiliated to Kerala Kalarippayattu Association(Govt. of Kerala). Certificates will be issued to the students upon the completion each stage.
- Only after completing each stage one will be admitted to the subsequent stage.
- The Regular training program will start from June and July 2010.
- Admission for Regular training program except 1st year program will be open to Male students only.
- 2 hours practical training classes starting from 6.am to 8.am will be held on each day, except on Sundays.
- Theory classes upon Kalarippayattu and related sciences will be held on all Mondays and Wednesdays by the experts of each field, for a period of one hour. Notes will be provided for each class.
Short term Kalarippayattu training Programs
Kalari practice stimulates all internal organs and improves the circulatory and respiratory functions. Digestive system will be made strong and has got psycho-physiological effect.
The postures in Kalari are called Vadivu, and they are developed from the postures of animals, birds, and other living beings- like Aswa Vadivu (horse), Gaja Vadivu (elephant), Simha Vadivu (lion), Sarpa Vadivu (snake), Varaha Vadivu (boar), Kukkuta Vadivu (cock), Marjara Vadivu (cat) etc. Each posture has got the power of that particular being in its application. The strongest one is the Aswa Vadivu - the horse. Yoga has the similar kind of postures called Asana.
